My first batch

My first batch of water kefir was amazing and so simple!  I made this batch based off my sister's recipe when she gave me the grains.

The ingredients:

  • 1/3 cup kefir grains
  • 4 cups water
  • 1/3 cup organic cane sugar
  • 1 tbsp organic turbinado sugar
  • 4 thin slices of organic apple
  • 1 small cube cut from organic ginger root
We let the batch brew for 48 hours and then strained and bottled our water kefir drink.  After I put the batch (without the kefir grains) in a new jar, I closed the lid tightly and refrigerated for another couple of hours.  This made the drink more carbonated and it tasted like an apple flavored ginger ale.  

I even let family and a friend try the drink, and they loved it.  This is definitely a favorite.
